Holding off on Kobo e-book

Looked into publishing SO MUCH at STAKE on (Rakuten) Kobo and discovered all offices for Rakuten are located in Japan, so I'm reconsidering publishing through them. Nothing against Japan, I'm just not thrilled about putting personal and banking info on servers in a foreign country. Also, I assume all rules regarding how they handle this info as well as intellectual property rights are based on Japaneses laws and would require traveling there, or hiring a rep in country, to dispute anything.
